The Esound E5

The Esound E5 is a true Hi-End CD-player able to compete with other hi-end CD-players that cost up to 4000 euro's and it employs a lot of the same technical parts and solutions or has even better onces!. The E5 is also known as the Esound CD-E5 and Eastsound CD-E5.

The E5 seems to be an earth shaking experience even without the low price. The Hi-End brand Vincent gets its high rated CD players, like the award winning CD3 and CD6 directly from Shengya, sticks the Vincent logo on it and sells it for ten times the consumer price of the same Shengya machine. Vincent seems to be connected to Denon and rumour has it that the new Denon HI-End line will consist of re-branded Shengya's too. The Esound must be considered the best CD-player coming out of China today.

Signature Edition

Recently the E5 SE (Signature Edition) has been made available through two dealers (eastwestaudio and cattylink). With improved internal wiring the dynamic range has been improved from 90db to 93db. It seems the SE edition has gained some weight too (from 10 for the regular E5 to 13 kilos for the E5 SE. Ofcourse one should really listen for themselves to hear whether the sound of the player has really been improved. The most distinctive change is in the color of the machine, black in stead of silver, this alone could be a reason to go for the SE, as the price difference seems to be fairly small (100€). I am looking forward to the first reviews and comparisons of the Signature Edition.
